About
It all started with a question. At the end of our first semester freshman year, I asked Chris an incredibly out of character question, “Do you want to skip class.” Knowing that one more absence could mean failure in the class, Chris abandoned reason and accepted my invitation. Although I can’t remember how we spent the hour we should have been in class, I can remember thinking that this guy must be crazy to risk failing just to spend time with me. Since that moment, the surprises have continued to come. Here are just a few: seeing Chris on my doorstep after he had flown from San Diego, CA to Blanket, TX during a summer break; finding the most beautiful diamond ring in a box of socks (both of which I still wear to this day); reminding my soon-to-be husband to breathe as we stood before a crowd of friends and family on our wedding day.
Even our day to day life is filled with tiny surprises these days. As a computer programmer at Abilene Christian University, Chris is met with daily challenges and unexpected events that require quick thinking and fast acting. (I am constantly in awe of his ability to fix anything!) As a speech-language pathologist at a local school district, my days are filled with unforgettable memories and small treasures that surface from the hearts and minds of the children I interact with on a daily basis. As a couple embarking on the exciting task of building a home, we spend our days making somewhat trivial decisions (ex. faucet type, trim color) while dreaming of the future surprises that await us within the walls of our soon-to-be constructed home.
As I consider the past that has brought us to this point, I could never have predicted that a ‘computer geek’ from California would have captured my heart so completely. I’m sure Chris would agree that this ‘farm girl’ was quite unexpected. But that’s what makes our life worth living…the unexpected questions, hidden surprises, and unforgettable memories that are made each and every day. If you return to this blog, maybe you’ll get a small glimpse of our life which will hopefully bring a smile to your face and encourage you to look for the surprises a little closer to home.

Hello from across the pond.
I’m just wandering, are you the Chris Gibbs of late Attention To Detail games dev company?
Unfortunately no. I’ve never worked for a games dev company.
